My tree is up but I haven't found many gifts. I gave up and sent cheques to most nephews and nieces but I need a present for a 5 year old boy I don't see often but will be spending chistmas with. What do you give a child when you have no idea what they already have?

me...stuffed toys

for a boy--dinosaurs or dogs usually go over well, or you could try the back up--legos!
when my nephews were kids (the oldest is 32 now

) they liked stuffed toys and even a few years later my sister in law asked if I could find one of the stuffed bears I had gotten for one of the boys again because they had played with it soo much that it was falling apart! A good teddy bear is always a friend!

I'm with cosy on that. I have 4 nephews ranging from 7 years old to 8 months. Stuffed animals always seem to be a winning choice. Dogs always seem to be high up on the stuffed animal list as well.

a wee bit o' the warmer weather ....rain instead of snow (nice for a change)...

and my tree is still...ornament-less

...think that will be my weekend project.

in other news....my sister ('burbs of chi-town), mailed my brother (microsoft land wa) a small padded envelop (had a cd)....brother tells her, he had still not received it, she looks up the tracking number---finds that from her town it went to another town in illinois, then .....to HAWAII!! (where it has been for the last few days)....guess the cd wanted to take a quick holiday before going to my brother? Brother thought it was funny and made up a list of the reasons for the detour---had us laughing for quite some time (which is why my sister shared it with me)....hope my brother gets it soon (or there might be more to the detour!)

Ya rain here as well. Though it is supposed to turn to ice tomorrow. Which is awesome since my wife is deadset on getting up to her sisters tomorrow, regardless of road conditions. Can't wait to drive in that crap...

At least your brother had some good humor about it. Not really sure why mail takes the route sometimes. We ordered something from Chicago, which is 3 hours away, last week, early last week, still hasn't arrived. Still in transit. Awesome. And another thing I ordered on Monday hasn't even shipped yet. Sigh... Tis the season.

I sent a package of cards to a company in Stockholm, it arrived in Stockholm within 2 days, they claim to have tried to deliver it 6 days later (16th dec), but somehow failed to deliver to company offices? and it is still sitting in the Stockholm sorting ofiice

Not as impressive as Cosy's but who would have though scandenavians would be so inefficient?

I think its just post offices in general that seem to have issues with delivering things in a timely fashion

(sis said at last check the cd was now in wa...perhaps my bro will get it today,...in other news of the po variety...2 packages I mailed last week for foreign waters --~10th, have yet to even leave the country! I think the usa has the cake on the worst and slowest for now).

hope everyone is staying warm on this the actual first day of winter! (I say that as it rains and all the snow has melted)

Mail is always slow this time of year. So it is even worse when it is slower than normal...

Well we are getting some awesome freezing rain. Wife doesn't care and is basically saying we have to go to Chicago today... Awesome. I can't wait to drive 3 hours in this miserable crap.

Super foggy where I am too, but the rain washed away the six inches of snow we had and I was already tired of shoveling it so...I'll survive one day of fog if that's what it takes!

My mom flew in from the South and I know she was looking forward to lots of snow here in the Midwest. Well maybe next year, lol. Hey at least she gets some cold weather here. It's always funny how people think things like snow are "fun" when they don't get it regularly lol. I told her, if you had to dig your car out of that crap it would lose its "fun" aspect for you.

I hear that its supposed to snow on christmas day....so perhaps it will make it over to you as well (and hope you have 'no place to go...so let it snow etc')

and sometimes I am really glad I have a 1 1/2 car drive way since I dont have much to shovel (have to park my car on it so I only get the 1/2 to shovel).

Well made it up here safely but it was not a fun drive by any means. Ice half the way, fog the other half. Just ridiculous. Glad to be up safely though.

We are now getting snow here. Supposed to get between 3-6 inches and it is supposed to stick through Christmas. So we will have a white Christmas here from the sounds of it. Which is fine with me.

Three inches of snow covering 1/4 inch ice. Cleared the sidewalk at 3:30a this morn, while clearing snow and ice off the truck for the wife to drive to work. The son says there is 8 1/2 inches of snow at the old place. The difference of 26 miles.

By the by, the wife was moved to the day shift from the evening shift. Instead of the hours 1:30p to 10:00p, she now works 5:00a to 1:30p. My online game times will be more in the morning now.

The eating too much should be interesting. Sister-in-law is on a super strict diet. So they eat, um, interesting things. Which means we are eating interesting things... So I don't think I'll be eating too much.

We got 2 inches or so of snow yesterday. Don't think we are due for anymore today. Hope not at least since the wife and I are going out to finish shopping for my family and meeting a couple of her high school friends.

had to put on the warm woole woolies to go out and about yesterday Brrrr!

but all the shopping is done, the stockings are full and the gifts wrapped....now just need to make some cookies (got chocochips and gingerbread on the plan--had to call up my sister in law to get her recipe since I misplaced the one she had given me years ago

Hubby wishes to brave the grocery store on the eve of christmas so...guess I am up for a bit more shopping!! (especially since I do like to eat a few times a day

It is super cold here again today... -5 right now and feels like -16. Goodness...

We finished our shopping yesterday. So glad to be done with that. The mall we went to was crazy insane. Did not like. Oh well. It was still a fun day.
